Maguro boots and service

I ordered a pair of the Maguro Tabi Boots a few weeks ago. The ordering process on cooljapaneseshoes.com was straightforward, no real hiccups there. I got a confirmation email right away. Delivery took 8 days to get to my place in Seattle, which felt a little long but wasn't terrible. When they arrived, I noticed a small scuff on one of the toes. I used their contact form, and customer support got back to me within 24 hours. They offered a partial refund or an exchange, which was fair. I kept them as the scuff was minor. The boots themselves are pretty comfortable, good for walking around, and the split-toe design took a little getting used to but feels secure. Quality seems solid for the price.

Good value, minor snag

I picked up a pair of the Umigame vegan canvas shoes. The price was really good for what they are, especially with free shipping on orders over $100. The shoes arrived in about six days, which was decent. They fit well, true to size, and the canvas feels sturdy. My only minor issue was that the shoelaces felt a little cheap, like they might fray quickly. Easily replaceable, of course, but it stood out a bit compared to the rest of the shoe's construction. Overall, a solid purchase and I'd consider buying from them again for the unique designs.

Got my Tabi Boots

Just received my Tabi Boots from Fugu. They look good, just like the pictures online. Shipping was okay, took about a week to get here. I like the style, pretty unique. Comfortable enough for everyday wear. No complaints, really happy with them.

Always reliable boots

I've bought from Fugu Shoes several times now, mostly their canvas high-tops. This last order was for a pair of Iruka Low Top Sneakers. They've been consistent every time. Sizing is always accurate for me, and the quality of the canvas holds up well. No surprises, which is what I like when ordering online. They shipped out quickly, got them in about a week, same as my previous orders. They're my go-to for these types of shoes.

Can I return shoes if they don't fit right? What's their return policy like?

B Brittany Roberts 1 month ago
yeah returns were easy, did it last month. Just print a label and send em back.

They have a pretty standard return policy, I think it's 30 days unworn. Just make sure you keep the box.

Hey, wondering if anyone knows how the sizing runs for these? Should I size up or down from my usual US size?

E Emily L. 1 month ago
I found them pretty true to size, honestly. My usual 8 fit perfectly.

They felt a tiny bit snug initially for me, but they stretch out a bit. If you're on the fence or have wider feet, maybe go up a half size.

Anyone ordered to California recently? How long did shipping actually take?

E Elizabeth T. 1 month ago
Yeah, I got mine in like 5 business days to LA. Pretty quick.

Took about a week for me to Sacramento. Was faster than I expected for sure.

Are the Fugu shoes actually good for martial arts practice or are they more for style? Need something durable for training.

A Alex C. 1 week ago
Definitely usable for martial arts! I use my Umigames for practice, the split toe really helps with grip and balance.

They're designed for it! The traditional Tabi style is pretty common in Japanese martial arts. Super flexible too.

Do these guys ever do student discounts? Need some new kicks but budget is tight.

E Emma R. 1 month ago
I think I saw something about a student discount when I was looking around their site last month. Check their footer or an FAQ page.

Yeah they do! There's usually a link in the menu or something to verify your student status. Got 15% off my last pair.

Looking at grabbing a pair, but also saw Vibram FiveFingers. How do Fugu's compare for daily wear vs something like FiveFingers?

R Robert Evans 2 weeks ago
Fugus are way more stylish for everyday. FiveFingers are cool for running but look a bit goofy in public imo. The Tabi split is more subtle.

M Mary Allen 2 weeks ago
Vibrams are more 'barefoot feel,' if that's what you're after. Fugus have good ground feel but offer a bit more structure and look more like regular shoes.

Are these shoes actually vegan? Or do some models use leather or something?

O Olivia T. 3 weeks ago
Most of their canvas ones are vegan friendly! Just check the product description for specifics.

J Justin W. 2 weeks ago
Yeah, a lot of them are explicitly marked vegan. That was a big selling point for me.
